Today was a fun day, editing through the footage I shot 2 days ago for the band "Two or Three". This is the first draft of the video.
Andrew Harback was the Director and Writer, Olivia Stephen was the girl in the white dress, and Andrew, Joey and Fraser were the painted dudes. It was tough shooting in the rain, but it gave a great vibe for the video.
Andrew recorded the song in my recording class this last semester, and it's extremely good!
Today was an amazing day for PDS. I got to go to a WWII veteran's home, and film him/ hang out for the day! His name is Boyd Affleck, and he fought for Canada in the last few years of the war. He shared some incredible stories. He shared details of a war and a situation that I (we) can not even fathom. The things this man has been through would definitely bring the strongest of our generation to their knees. I feel so indebted to these people, and I hope that I can inspire others to remember these guys, especially since there are so few left with us.
I'm very grateful for the time I spent there today, and I may post portions of the interview online, but I will leave that up to Boyd once he sees the footage. This may just be a Project that only gets seen by his family, but it was a really great experience.
Here is an email that was sent to Boyd from some of his friends in Holland, that were related to those that were protected and set free by Boyd and so many others in the Canadian military:

"We think of you a lot, especially today. Harlingen celebrates and remembers the day we were set free. Carmen is in her last year of the Elementary School and the class went to the cemetery. Very impressive that was, at all ages, though. We think of you with fond memories of your visits, first with your dear, dear wife Ruth and later with your ever so kind daughter Eileen. But when it is April 17, we always think of this young man from Canada, fighting for justice and peace and we are so grateful. So, dear friend from the other side of the ocean: thank you again."

Today was a very intense shoot for Andrew Harback's band "Two or Three". We shot outside in the rain for most of the day! It stars Olivia Stephen, one of my illustrious Composition/ Digital Recording students, she did a great job! Thanks to Tessa and family for letting us shoot at their gorgeous house.
I'll post the video in a couple days, one of my PDS days will be to edit this video.
Tomorrow I'm off to film a WWII veteran, I can't wait to meet him.

I managed to finish the music and sound design for our fun little family project, it even premiered for a couple hundred people tonight at the film festival!
It was a bit tight working on it, but I think it will suffice! I threw on some Magic Bullet Looks and exported!! I hope you enjoy it, the crowd seemed to like it, and my kids are amazing!!! Bella was a real trooper on this one.
The film festival was a lot of fun, it was great to see all the students and their projects, a lot of really talented actors/ filmmakers/ composers at TWU! I'm so proud of the ones I've had the pleasure of teaching!
The movie I shot/ edited/ and did sound and music for won best picture at the ceremony too! I'll be posting the film shortly, the actor is Donald Adams, and he is AMAZING. He also won best actor.
Had a great day shooting with Justin Carlson the other day. The Silver Hills people were making a video showing how their process differs from the regular method of making bread. Very informative, and great bread too!
I shot an interview today for Thoughtfarmer. Set up at Mountain Equipment Co-op to film how they use Thoughtfarmer's amazing intranet software.
Used a 60D and a 5D MKII with the incredible VAF 5D2 anti aliasing filter. Pretty much makes the camera almost perfect for the video shoots I do. More to come on that later!!
Got to head out to Vancouver to see Vincent Laforet speak about the new C300, it was almost a year since Vincent chose me to come to the Creative Live workshop and be a part of his 3 day weekend workshop. The C300 looks like an amazing camera, but for now I'm sticking with the 5D MKII, and will add a 5D MKIII to the mix before too long!
